This is my response to particular opinions about Black single mothers online. Including the men that date them & also men that refuse to date women with children.

When it comes to white women, the single mother narrative is relatively positive. Words such as strong and independent are constantly used to describe white single mothers. In fact they are even glorified. However, acceptance, understanding, and support has yet to be extended to Black single mothers.

“Demonized”

Black single mothers are regularly demonized and ridiculed. Some Black men seem to constantly blame the out of wedlock rate within the Black community on Black women, rather than looking at the Black men that actually make them single mothers. Black women that raising their children outside of the traditional definitions of a nuclear family are subject to demonization and damaging stereotypes.

In reality, statistics show that Black women are the primary breadwinners in a majority of Black households. If we truly seek to uplift black communities, we need policies that support Black single mothers.

In this video I address Black men that attack and blame Black women for being single mothers. Why all the animosity? Is it a deeply rooted psychological issue that they have personally. Mommy issues maybe?
I also tackle the question “should Black men date single mothers?” and I also answer the question “is it okay to not want to date a woman with children?”.
Is it really that big of a deal to have a dating preference that doesn’t involve another man’s kids?

There are many schools of thought when it comes to this topic.
Some dating coaches teach men to avoid dating single mothers, whilst others seem to advocate for it, even to the point of demonizing men that choose not to date women with children.
